Mackenzie Place brings the past and future together, combining historical preservation and new construction; this 4.9-acre property features 20 market-rate apartments, 34 rent-controlled apartments, and 67 rent-subsidized apartments, all specially designed for older adults.

Senior Apartments St. Louis MOMarket Rate Apartments

The Village at Mackenzie Place offers 20 market-rate, one- and two- bedroom apartment residences located in the historic Affton High School building. Rental rates vary according to floor plan and size.

  • All utilities included in rent, other than cable and phone
  • Elevator access to both floors
  • 24-hour card-access security
  • A variety of floor plans to choose from

Rent Controlled Apartments

The Village at Mackenzie Place also offers 34 one- and two- bedroom Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) apartment residences. To qualify, a resident’s income must fall at or below 60% of the median income for St. Louis County.

  • All utilities included in rent, other than cable and phone
  • Elevator access to both floors
  • 24-hour card-access security
  • Two floor plans to choose from: 735 sq. ft. or 900 sq. ft. Rental rates vary according to size.

Rent Subsidized Apartments

The Village at Mackenzie Place offers 67 one-bedroom HUD 202 PRAC apartment residences. To qualify, a resident’s income must fall at or below 50% of the median income for St. Louis County. Rent is calculated at 30% of resident gross income after out-of-pocket fixed medical expenses.

  • Rent includes an allowance for utilities. (Residents are responsible for electric, phone, and cable.)
  • Elevator access to all three floors
  • 24-hour card-access security

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and Public Relations from Southeast Missouri State University. She has a passion for the elderly population and enjoys finding new ways of helping her residents “Live Life to the Fullest”

Mirzeta has ten years of experience in senior living and services after receiving her Associate Degree in Applied Science and Health Information Technology and an Associate Arts Degree in General Transfer Studies. She has been at Lutheran Senior Services since 2012

Melita is the Service Coordinator, having obtained a Bachelors in Social Work from University of Missouri- St. Louis. She has been a part of the LSS family since 2011. She loves in Oakville with her husband, Edvin and their son, Adem.

Shannon is the Leasing Associate for The Village of Mackenzie Place, assisting residents and potential future residents. She has been with Lutheran Senior Services since 2013.

Mark Powers
Manager of Plant Operations

Mark is the Maintenance Supervisor, making sure that everything at The Village of Mackenzie Place is running efficiently. With close to 40 years of experience in all phases of construction, Mark is OSHA certified and has been with LSS since 2015.

This commitment runs deep throughout the Chaplaincy Team at Lutheran Senior Services. Here at Mackenzie Place, our commitment to residents and staff are designed to achieve a balanced approach to the support and services provided by our Chaplains. Our goal is to provide the entire Mackenzie Place community with the fullness of God’s grace essential for balanced living through spiritual care, nurture, instruction, and faithful administration of the Sacraments.

As your chaplains, we are committed to helping our entire staff at Mackenzie Place achieve success in assisting ‘Older Adults living life to the fullest’ with the full balance of God’s grace and mercy.

Rev. Robert Briggs

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Rev. Bob served 20 years in the US Air Force, completing overseas tours in Europe and Asia. He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Massachusetts and received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 2004. Rev. Bob has served churches in Florissant, Spanish Lake, and St. Charles before receiving the call to serve LSS residents. He and his wife Lisa Marie have two grown children.

Rev. Monte Haun

Rev Monte is a former educator and has been in Pastoral Ministry since 2001. He currently serves as one of two chaplains, supporting our affordable housing residents. Monte and his wife, Cheryl, have two grown sons and currently live in St. Charles.

Prior to joining Lutheran Senior Services, he was vice president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Foundation’s Gift Planning Services. As the Administrator of Stewardship, Kirk oversees a professional staff deployed to the various Lutheran Senior Services communities. He has a wealth of experience, helping people deal with financial challenges and opportunities. When not working, he enjoys trying to keep up with his grandchildren, playing racquetball and rooting for the Cardinals.

To call The Village at Mackenzie Place home, you must be 55 years of age or better to move into the Market Rate or Rent Controlled apartments, or 62 years of age or better to move into the Rent Subsidized apartments.
