A Magical Madrigal Christmas at LSS’ Hidden Lake community

Wandering minstrels serenading the patrons. Mincing jesters frolicking in the aisles. Courtly lords and ladies decked in finery.

A scene from medieval times? Not at all — its an evening at LSS’ Hidden Lake community in north St. Louis county. For its Christmas Madrigal Dinner, activities director Mary Adams invited Washington University’s “More Fools Than Wise” performance group to sing medieval-styled Christmas hymns and standards.

To welcome the group, staff members dressed in full Middle Ages regalia and helped crown a pair of kings and queens (Julice Schoeder and Bob Zurheide in the Hearth dining room, Colleen Simon and Les Gholson in the Care Center). Click below to scroll through photos from the evening’s festivities.
