Can’t sleep? If you’re a resident at Lutheran Hillside Village, you can always pop down to the 24-hour wellness gym and do a few laps on the stationary bike, lift some weights, or even play a couple of sets in Wii Tennis!
“I’m really excited about having this room,” says Sarah Wozniak, LHV’s activity director. A certified strength and conditioning coach, Sarah developed the new gym to help round out the fitness offerings available on campus. “Where our exercise classes offer a kind of general activity that’s easy for anyone to join in, the gym gives you the chance to focus on specialized areas that you want to work on.”
Residents who go through Sarah’s assessment and orientation class can access the wellness gym at any time, day or night. Here, patrons will find a full complement of equipment for many different kinds of workouts, from stretching and resistance training to cardio and strength improvement.
“They’ve really put together a beautiful facility here,” says Ken Jones, who works with Sarah one-on-one a few times a week. “I’m of the opinion that if you don’t exercise, you die on the vine. That’s why I’m glad we have Sarah. I have all the confidence in the world in her. She really knows what she’s doing.”
And now, with the fitness gym open for business, residents can take advantage of the fruits of her efforts morning, noon, and night.
