As executive director for Concordia Village, Mary Riggs is a seasoned leader in long-term care, with a passion for quality care and services to seniors. Mary is a registered nurse and a licensed nursing home administrator. She has a master’s degree in health services management. Mary and her husband Bill have one son and three adorable grandchildren.

Janine Buzick, LPN, RACC, NALPNCC, the director of Assisted Living at Concordia Village, brings with her 20 years of experience in long-term care. She has served as an assistant Director of Nursing, RACC, and Medicare Assessment Coordinator for various agencies. A Certified Aging Services Professional, Janine is responsible for managing the nursing department and overseeing Assisted Living at Concordia Village.

Maryann Walker brings more than 25 years of experience in the long-term care profession to her role as Administrator of the Care Center at Concordia Village. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a certification in Management. Her education and experience are combined with her passion to serve seniors as she mentors the Care Center staff in their daily mission. Maryann and her husband Bill live in Springfield and have two sons.

Jennifer Cole, senior living counselor, helps incoming residents to select their new homes and apartments. Before coming to Concordia Village, she focused on customer needs during a 30-year career with Xerox.

Kari Pranger joined LSS in September 2009. She has 25 years' experience in the hospitality industry, having worked in sales and marketing for Marriott, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, and even Walt Disney World. A 24-year resident of Springfield, Kari holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University. She and her husband have three teenage sons.

Leanne Arndt, LPN, joined LSS in November 2011. She cultivated 23 years’ experience in sales and marketing in the broadcast industry before returning to school to pursue a nursing career. She works to market the Skilled Nursing Care Center to the community and health care professionals. Responsibilities include admissions of residents into the Care Center. She lives in Springfield with her husband and has two lovely daughters.

Jonathan Vierkant was born and raised in East Texas. He currently serves as the first full time chaplain at Concordia Village. Jonathan is married to his wife, Katie, and has a son named Daniel, as well as a dog named Libby. As chaplain, Jonathan is responsible for the spiritual life at Concordia Village, which includes persons from a wide variety of faith traditions. In addition to leading chapel services, he also offers counseling and guidance for everyone who lives and works at Concordia Village.

Amy Monroe began her nursing career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1990 and graduated from LLCC as a Registered Nurse in 1995. She has 15 years of experience as a Director of Nursing. Her goal has been to change the perception of long term care and to bring the quality of life to our elders that they deserve. Amy lives in Petersburg, IL and has one teenage son.

Stephane Perrin was born in Normandie, France. He started his culinary career as a baker and after serving in the armed services went on to cook in the resort town of Deauville. He moved to the United States in 1989. He worked in restaurants and country clubs in Champaign and Galena before settling in Springfield in 1993. He was the Chef at Sebastian’s Hideout for almost six years before coming to Concordia Village. He lives in Springfield with his wife Karen and their son Maxime.

Director of Stewardship

Phil King has been on the staff at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, Illinois for 20 years, and he is pleased to also serve the residents of Concordia Village. He has served as Development Director, Marketing Director, and most recently as Director of Stewardship. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bradley University. Phil and his wife, Marcia have two children and four grandchildren.
Giving Opportunities
Benevolent Care
Contributions to our Benevolent Care Fund endow future financial assistance for residents who have exhausted their financial resources and are no longer able to afford service at their care level.
Good Samaritan
Good Samaritan donors support residents who are currently in need of additional funding to maintain their present level of care.
Christ Care
Donations to the Christ Care Fund help provide relief for Lutheran Senior Services staff members who are experiencing emergency financial needs.
Christian Artwork
Donors to the Christian Artwork fund help to purchase inspirational decorations for LSS communities, adding to a feeling of home for our residents.
Pastoral Care
Supporting Pastoral Care aids the efforts of our specially trained chaplains. The Pastoral Care team provides comfort and spiritual guidance to our residents, families and staff.
Staff Scholarships
Donations to the staff scholarships assist with educational opportunities that keep staff throughout the Lutheran Senior Services organization current on the most advanced methods for caring for and supporting seniors.
