Welcome to Hidden Lake
Wayne and Beverly Lemen
Between being part of the Welcoming Committee and all of the other activities Wayne and Beverly Lemen enjoy at Hidden Lake, the Lemens stay very busy. “We’re game players,” Wayne says. “We like to play bingo, pinochle and Rummikub, and we like going to trivia, and they play Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, too.”
“It’s just great having people to play with,” she says. “We really enjoy being around all of the people here.”
“And the food is great.” Beverly says. “I haven’t had to cook in five months.” A guilty look plays across her face, and she lowers her voice. “I’m kind of snitching on myself here, but since I never have to use my dishwasher, I use it to store my gift-wrap and bows.” She laughs. “You can get a lot in there!”
After their years of travel, the Lemens know good hospitality when they see it. “We’re really happy here at Hidden Lake,” Wayne says. “We have traveled all around the world and had some really exciting times, but Beverly and I have found enough to do here to keep us busy and happy. Who could ask for anything more?”
Leo and Bunchie Jorwic
The couple moved to Hidden Lake last summer after Bunchie’s macular degeneration required her to start seeking additional help.
“We’re northsiders,” says Leo. “We’ve lived over in Blackjack (a nearby town) since our marriage in 1987. And Hidden Lake is a neighborhood institution. So we were well familiar with this place. We’re very happy with our decision.”
Since moving in, the Jorwics have been involved in all kinds of aspects of community life. “You can’t help but participate,” says Leo. “You’ve got all these things coming at you. Entertainment in the Hearth, trips out to restaurants…I’ve even volunteered to be secretary for the residents’ association. The people here are very friendly, and they all want you to get involved.”
Still happy together after 25 years, the Jorwics feel like they’re ready for the future in their house at Hidden Lake. “When you move out of a home you’ve lived in for umpteen years, it’s a big step to take,” he says. “But it’s worth it. This was a good move for us. We’re pleased with our experience. Very pleased.”
Elva Schubert is right where she wants to be.
For years, Elva has been visiting friends at Hidden Lake. In fact, she and her husband sat in on the meeting where construction on the community was first announced more than 25 years ago. “I’ve been thinking about this place for a long time,” she says. “I’ll be 90 years old soon, and a 90-year-old woman shouldn’t have to live alone after raising seven kids.”
One smooth transition later, Elva has taken to life at Hidden Lake beautifully, taking advantage of all the activities the community can schedule. “She loves it here. She’s always out with her new friends,” her daughter Mary laughs. “She tells me she’s the new queen of Hidden Lake. And I don’t doubt it!”

Think about everything you spend on your home in a given month – mortgage, utilities, repairs, landscaping and more. Now think about how much you spend on eating out, entertainment, a health club membership, and transportation.
At Hidden Lake, most (if not all) of these expenses are covered with a single monthly payment. And when you compare it to what you’re paying now, you may be surprised at how reasonable a move to Hidden Lake can be.
When you move into one of our independent living apartment homes or patio homes, you pay a one-time refundable Entrance Fee. You can choose our $2,500 option, which is 100% refundable; however, investing in our 95% or 50% refundable entrance fee options is a wise financial strategy that reduces your monthly service fees and keeps your money working for you while preserving your assets.
In addition, we have a variety of other financial options that can reduce your monthly fees.
For specific pricing, contact our senior living counselor by calling 314.355.8833 or by email.
