How Your Gift Helps

Lutheran Senior Services is a not-for-profit organization that is built on financial stability and sound stewardship. We invite you to share our mission of serving seniors at our Lutheran Hillside Village community by making a gift that will advance our Christian mission of honoring and cherishing those we serve. Your gift will be used to directly help people.

Make your legacy part of the Lutheran Hillside Village legacy. Select a specific area for your gift or make a gift to the area of greatest need. You may give now, or contact our gift consultant for free and confidential advice about how your gift can help others.

  • Simple Will Bequests
  • Charitable Trusts
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Assignment of Life Insurance
  • Designation as Beneficiary of Qualified Retirement Plans

Such farsighted estate planning allows you to extend your influence beyond your lifetime to help ensure high quality, Christ-centered senior care for generations to come.

For assistance in exploring ways you can maximize your stewardship, please contact Phil King (309.683.1298) or Rosalie Park (309.683.1293).

Transferring Appreciated Stocks or Securities
Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation encourages gifts of appreciated stock. In most cases, gifting stock will help you avoid or reduce the capital gains taxes owed if the stock were sold.

Donors may gift securities that are held electronically, such as 1) Individual shares of stock, 2) Mutual funds, and 3) Bonds. Donors may also gift individual stock certificates, a move which may help them avoid or reduce capital gains taxes normally levied when stocks are sold. (Be sure to consult your accountant or tax advisor regarding the benefits of gifting stock.)

For specific instructions, please contact Phil King (309.683.1298) or Rosalie Park (309.683.1293).

Goals, Strategies, & Benefits

Your Goals   Your Strategy   Your Benefits
Maximize your deduction; minimize the gift details   Use cash or check to make your gift to Lutheran Hillside Village.   Claim your deduction against a larger portion of your adjusted gross income, and make an immediate impact on Lutheran Hillside Village
Afford a larger gift to Lutheran Hillside Village — and avoid capital gains liability   Give appreciated securities or bonds held over one year   Buy low and give high — make a gift that costs you less than the benefit it delivers to us, while avoiding capital gains tax
Make a gift for Lutheran Hillside Village’s future that doesn’t affect your cash flow or portfolio now   Put a bequest in your will (cash, specific property, or a share of the estate residue)   Today — a gift that costs you and your family nothing

Tomorrow — an estate tax deduction

Retain income benefits from the assets you give to Lutheran Hillside Village — and thus afford a larger gift   Create a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust   Receive income for your lifetime; receive a charitable deduction; diversify your holdings
Reduce high tax liability now; gain additional income later   Establish a deferred gift annuity   A larger deduction and a higher income rate than our other life-income gifts offer
Tap one of the most valuable assets in your portfolio to make a gift to Lutheran Hillside Village   Use real estate to make your gift to Lutheran Hillside Village   Avoid capital gains tax, receive an income tax deduction — and have the option of a gift that doesn’t affect your lifestyle
Reduce gift and estate taxes and control the timing of passing assets to your children and grandchildren   Create a charitable lead trust which supports programs at Lutheran Hillside Village for a fixed, finite period with the principal going to your heirs   Reduce gift and estate taxes, and freeze the taxable value of growing assets before they pass to your family
Locate an overlooked asset that you can easily give to Lutheran Hillside Village   Name Lutheran Hillside Village as beneficiary of your retirement plan, leave other assets to family   Eliminate income tax on retirement plan assets; free up other property to pass to your heirs
Make an endowment gift from income rather than capital   Create a new life insurance policy, or donate a paid-up policy whose coverage you no longer need   Increase your ability to make a significant gift to Lutheran Hillside Village
