Welcome, Volunteers!

Thank you for choosing to be a part of Volunteer Money Management (VMM)! Your commitment to providing money management assistance makes the lives of older adults who enroll in the program much easier.

In many cases, these individuals couldn’t stay in their homes without the assistance you provide. You truly make a difference each day you volunteer.

How We Help

Volunteer Money Management serves adults age 60 and better and those age 50-plus with disabilities. Older adults must maintain an active checking account and be able to sign any check the volunteer writes. We serve St. Louis city and county as well as St. Charles and Jefferson counties.

Knowing that the bills are paid and that the checkbook is balanced gives many older adults peace of mind. Volunteer Money Management helps older adults manage financial tasks so they can remain self sufficient. Volunteers can:

  • Sort and organize mail
  • Dispose of solicitations and junk mail
  • Write checks for monthly bills in the older adult’s presence
  • Record payments
  • Balance checkbooks
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Create a budget
  • Organize personal papers
  • Identify unnecessary records and documents
  • Explain confusing forms

Activity Sheet

After you receive your volunteer assignment and begin providing money management assistance, you are required to submit an activity sheet that documents the time spent completing money management tasks, socialization, and travel time. Completed activity sheets should be turned in by the last day of the month. The information is needed for United Way reporting.

To complete the activity sheet, click here to use our easy online form. If you need assistance with completing the Activity sheet, please contact Barb at BHounsom@LSSLiving.org or 314.446.2518.
