Lutheran Senior Services Receives Highest Level of 2018 Workplace Health Recognition from American Heart Association

National program honors employee health improvement efforts and workforce heart health.

St. Louis, Mo., September 26, 2018 – Lutheran Senior Services has received Gold level recognition from the American Heart Association’s 2018 Workplace Health Achievement Index for the senior living provider’s successful efforts to build a culture of health improvement and heart health throughout its workplace.  The Index uses science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of workplace health programs among participating companies and calculates an average heart health score for their employees that securely submit aggregate health data.  This marks the fifth consecutive year that Lutheran Senior Services has achieved this high level of recognition from the American Heart Association.

“We are building a culture of healthy living among all our employees through programs that are easily accessible and enjoyable for all,” said Denis Thien, Director of Benefits and Compensation at Lutheran Senior Services.  “From free flu shots and a company-wide walking challenge to healthy eating and cooking programs and wellness classes, we are successfully engaging our employees in robust and comprehensive programs that are making a positive difference in healthy lifestyle choices and improved performance and morale.  This recognition from the American Heart Association is a tribute to the ongoing results being achieved by our Wellness Teams across our organization.”

The Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs as well as the overall heart health of their employees. The Index also scores companies on the heart health of their employees based on Life’s Simple 7® – the Association’s scientifically validated definition of ideal heart health. The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index assessment is grounded in data-driven science and a quality improvement framework.
