A Caring Career

Imagine if going to work every day was more than a job, but an opportunity to bring a smile to someone’s face and give them comfort. That’s what it’s like to be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

At Lutheran Senior Services (LSS), CNAs become like family to residents. These caring individuals are important to the LSS mission of Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest. Because CNAs work so closely with our residents, it takes generous people to fill these roles and LSS is committed to finding them.

“You have to have a heart for it,” said Diane, a CNA at LSS. “I’ve had a lot of jobs; this is my calling.”

Diane came to Mason Pointe, an LSS community in Town and Country, Missouri, when the Sisters of the Good Shepherd moved to the community in 2018. While she wasn’t a CNA at that time, LSS supported Diane’s education so she could get her certification.

Grace is another CNA who came to Mason Pointe in 2018. At that time, she wasn’t a CNA but was interested in becoming one. LSS also helped Grace become a CNA.

“I love my job,” said Grace. “I love everything about it. I love to make people feel better about themselves.”

While CNAs are important to the excellent care and service LSS communities provide older adults, they are part of a larger team. Housekeeping, dining, nursing, and lifestyle enrichment are a few other roles that contribute to the LSS mission daily.
