St. Louis, MO – October 25, 2024 – Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) is proud to announce a significant three-year commitment of $100,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association, supporting their mission through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This partnership reflects LSS’s dedication to enhancing the lives of people living with dementia, ensuring they experience a life filled with meaning and purpose.
LSS will participate in five walks this fall: Columbia, Missouri; St. Charles, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; Edwardsville, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; and Peoria, Illinois. Team members, residents, and their families are coming together to raise awareness and support for the nearly 7 million people living with Alzheimer’s in the United States.
“Our commitment to memory support aligns seamlessly with the goals of the Alzheimer’s Association,” said Valerie Cooper, Vice President of Life Plan Communities Midwest. “We believe that all individuals living with dementia deserve compassionate care and opportunities to engage in meaningful activities. By focusing on relationships, individual strengths, and holistic well-being, we celebrate and recognize each person’s unique journey.”
LSS is committed to promoting awareness, education, and support for families affected by Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. This partnership enables us to expand our efforts, providing essential resources to individuals and families navigating the complexities of this disease.
In addition to our participation in the walks, LSS will showcase the innovative Tovertafel, or “Magic Table,” at each walk. This immersive technology, which uses light projection, fosters engagement and interaction among residents and families. The Tovertafel is designed to stimulate cognitive, social, and emotional well-being, reinforcing LSS’s philosophy of promoting joy and connection in the lives of those we serve.
“Together with the Alzheimer’s Association, we strive to create a community that values and supports individuals living with dementia and their loved ones,” Valerie added. “We invite everyone to join us in this important mission as we walk toward a future without Alzheimer’s.”
