Loneliness is an epidemic that older adults are especially susceptible to. Not only does this impact one’s mental health, but those who suffer from loneliness are more likely to have health issues – such as heart disease or a stroke – and have a harder time recovering from illness. But you have the power to help.
Through Lutheran Senior Services’ (LSS’) Senior Connections program, seniors living in LSS welcoming assisted living homes and Affordable Housing communities can receive visitors to brighten their day by providing companionship. Senior Connections volunteers receive special training to help them become an even better companion, with an emphasis on communication and building meaningful relationships.
