Sometimes it’s a small change that can lead to a big transition. That’s how it was for Chad B.’s mom. After she fell and spent some time in REACH Short Stay Rehabilitation at Lenoir Woods, the family and staff decided that an Assisted Living arrangement would be the best option for her. Luckily for Chad and his mom, they already had a plan in place.
“When this happened, we felt we had a Plan A,” added Chad. “We knew what to do.”
His mom had a few other experiences with Lenoir Woods through previous stays in REACH. She also had several friends living at Lenoir Woods. She knew that when she was ready, she would move there, too, and she did. While Chad’s mom passed away in the spring of 2020, Chad has fond memories of the time she spent in Assisted Living at Lenoir Woods. He likens it to being part of a family.
“Everyone there from the nursing team, to dining, to housekeeping all did so many things to help care for my mom,” said Chad. “My mom didn’t sleep well and was often up early. The overnight nurse told me that she and mom had many conversations in the wee hours of the morning. That meant so much to me.”
While providing great care is a hallmark of Lenoir Woods, it’s taking the time to have those conversations, finding ways to make residents’ days brighter, and making everyone feel welcome that really sets the community apart.
“Lenoir Woods should be the standard of care throughout the country on what can be done right in senior care,” added Chad.
